Mario Arenas Navarrete was born in Quillota, Chile. He is a Composer, Doctor in Educational Sciences with a mention in Intercultural Education from the University of Santiago, Master of Arts with a Mention in Musical Composition from the University of Chile, Postgraduate in Composition and Electronic Music from the Music Academy of Krakow-Poland, Bachelor of Rhythm Education Auditory, Solfeggio and Harmony from the University of Chile.
He is an Associate Academician, Full Time owned by the University of La Serena and has been Director of its Music Department for three terms. Through the Ministry of Education, he has given courses and conferences in Chile (Santiago, Antofagasta, Copiapó, Coquimbo and La Serena). In Argentina, at the National University of Lanús; In Mexico, he has given master lectures at two international conferences at the Pedagogical Research Center of Sonora, Hermosillo and later, hired by CRESUR in Chiapas, Guadalajara and the University of Quintana Roo. Through the Inter-American Institute of Musical Education, a body dependent on the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile and the Organization of American States (OEA), it gave numerous intensive courses of one month each, for teachers from different countries: two at the Conservatory of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia, four, at the Higher Institute of Education (ISE) of Asunción - Paraguay, eight, between the Conservatory of Quito and the Higher Institute of Education "Luis Ulpiano de La Torre" of Cotacachi ; three, at the University of Nariño, Pasto - Colombia; at the UCR of Costa Rica he gave a lecture and at the National University of Heredia he gave two intensive courses for Music Education teachers; two at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo-Dominican Republic, and he gave a workshop at the University of Missouri-United States. At the same time, he participated in the international ISME music education and technology panel held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, and at the University of Valencia, where he has given talks, conducted research, and taught. He is co-author of the software "Punto y Tono" and author of the sound monument "Imágenes Eólicas del Elqui" in the Fourth Region of Coquimbo, Chile.
He is the author of symphonic and electroacoustic works. He has been a judge of numerous composition contests.
